IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study on work where English is the language of communication. IELTS, is jointly engaged by University of Cambridge ESOL Examination (Cambridge ESOl), British Council and IDP IELTS Australia. IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment. It overs the four languages skills – listening reading, writing and speaking. IELTS is recognised by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. Duration of Test:
Listening: Total 40 minutes
30 minutes are given to solve the questions and 10 minutes to transfer the answer to answer sheets given by examiner.
Reading: Total 60 minutes
Three to passages one needs to solve.
Writing: Total 60 minutes
One essay /Graph or One essay /Letter to write
Speaking: Approximately 15 minutes
Any topics on general awareness would be provided to student and he/she have to speak on it .
How to Calculate Bands?
Let us take an example: If student have scored bands as follows:
Listening: 5.5 bands, Reading 6.5, Writting 5.0 and Speaking 4.0
Now we need to plus all bands such as 5.5+6.5+5.5+4.5=22 Then divide total score with 4 =22/4=5.5
So overall bands scored by student is 5.5 Bands
